Wagering Wednesday

3wagering wednesday (2)Happy hump day my homeys! We’ve made it half way once again and I am soooo looking forward to this Saturday. Being such a huge football fan and being from the south, obviously I love the SEC. The SEC is the strongest conference in the nation, in my opinion, and this weekend has some of the toughest match ups this season. So, with that said, here’s a Special All SEC Edition of Wagering Wednesday.

1. Vanderbilt @ Army : COMMODORES

2. Houston @ Miss State : COUGARS

3. Georgia @ Tennessee : BULLDOGS

4. Kentucky @ South Carolina : GAMECOCKS

5. Auburn @ Arkansas : TIGERS

6. Alabama @ Ole Miss : REBELS

7. Florida @ LSU : GATORS

There’s my Special All SEC Edition of Wagering Wednesday. Regardless of who you pull for, these are going to be some great games. And as always, I might be wrong…..but I wouldn’t bet on it.

In case you may be wondering why my rankings are a little different from all the other rankings out there, heres why. I don’t rank a team solely based on their NAME. I look at record, schedule, and overall performance. Disagree? Let me know.

Wagering Wednesday

3wagering wednesday (2)Well, we’re half way there once again. It’s hump day and I am in desperate need of a weekend. I am mentally exhausted. But it’s time for Wagering Wednesday. Over the past couple weeks I haven’t fared very well with my picks, so sorry Javi, I’m going back to picking games straight up. After all, the year we’ve had so far, even the so-called experts couldn’t make these picks. So enough excuses.

In College Football:

1. Georgia over LSU

2. Miami over Oklahoma

3.Tennessee over Auburn

4. Alabama over Kentucky

5. California over USC

In the NFL:

1. Ravens over Patriots

2. Bills over Dolphins

3. Cowboys over Broncos

4. Steelers over Chargers

5. Vikings over Packers

So there you have ‘em, My-Five. And as always, I might be wrong….but, well based on the past couple weeks go ahead and bet on it. But just this once. Good luck.

DÉJÁ Tuesday

2Deja_TuesdayWhassup my peeps!?!? Did you have a good weekend? I know I did. This weekend happened to be a little bit different from the past couple though. Although there were a lot of good games and some big upsets, that’s not what I was the most excited about. This weekend was the season premiere of Dexter and Californication.

Dexter is secretly my hero. If you haven’t seen it …..why? Dexter is a crime scene blood splatter analyst and a serial killer. He picks out the ones that get away with murder(no pun intended) and issues true punishment or judgement, which ever. It drives me crazy to see some scumbag walk away with a slap on the wrist for some major crime. I guess watching Dexter on TV, keeps me from doing that crap in real life. Just kidding FBI (shhh…no I’m not kidding).

Californication is David Duchovny’s series about a smoking, drinking, womanizing writer. I really like this show too. It is so funny. This is another one that if you haven’t seen it, you need to check it out. Now a little bit of a disclaimer though. If you are offended by foul language, sexual content, violence, occasional drug use, and some nudity, this might not be for you. Wait a minute …. some nudity…..who am I kidding. The only place you’ll see more boobs on TV is CSPAN. Have a great week everyone.

Wagering Wednesday

3wagering wednesday (2)Happy hump day homeys! From my city council screwing me and my fellow city employees over, to my youngest child having the pseudo-swine, this has been one of those weeks already. I am really looking forward to the weekend.  So enough of my mindless babbling, let’s do this.

First, the NCAA:

  1. Ole Miss @ South Carolina – Ole Miss -3
  2. Illinois @ Ohio State – Buckeyes -14
  3. Arkansas @ Alabama – Arkansas +17
  4. California @ Oregon – Bears -5
  5. Miami @ Virginia Tech – Canes -2

And finally for the NFL:

  1. Green Bay @ St Louis – Packers -6
  2. Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati – Steelers -4
  3. Miami @ San Diego – Over 43
  4. Indianapolis @ Arizona – Colts +2
  5. Washington @ Detroit – Lions +7

There’s MY-FIVE, college and pro. Good luck. And as always, I might be wrong …… but I wouldn’t bet on it.

DÉJÁ Tuesday

2Deja_TuesdayPardon me if I seem less than enthused today. Trust me when I say it has nothing to do with the quality of my weekend. I had a really good weekend. It’s amazing though how one crappy Monday can erase the high of a good weekend.

As usual, I spent my weekend sitting on my over-sized arse in my “football cocoon” which consists of my recliner, my laptop, and my 65″ flat panel wide-screen 1080p hdtv with surround sound. And as if that wasn’t enough, you should check out my wife. She’s hot. I married WAY outta my league. But I had a good weekend.

Saturday had alot of good games. Florida beat Tennessee, USC got beat by Washington on a last second field goal, there was a shoot out between Georgia and Arkansas and Texas and Texas Tech. Sunday had some good ones too. Dirty Sanchez and the Jets beat the Patriots, the Ravens beat the Chargers, and the Giants screwed up the home opener for the Cowboys.

And finally I learned a valuable lesson today. Literally. A couple of our local city council persons seem to have a bit of a “god-complex” and think that their way is the only way. Even if their way is going to cost the city employees who work their butts off to make them look smart everyday, ALOT of money. I think we could all learn a lesson from Spider Man. “With great power, comes great responsibility”. God help us all. Have a good week everybody.

DÉJÁ Tuesday

2Deja_TuesdayWhew! One down, four to go. We are one day closer to Friday, cheer up. If you are a football fan, and I am, this past weekend was a good one. Alot of great games and some upsets too.

This weekend a couple true freshman quarterbacks stood out. Michigan’s Forcier threw the game winning touchdown with just seconds left to beat Notre Dame by four. Then Saturday night, USC’s Barkley marched into the “Horseshoe” and led the Trojans on a game winning 4th quarter touchdown drive to beat Ohio State. In an upset, this weekend Oklahoma State got beat at home by Houston dropping them out of the top 10 along with Ohio State.

Sunday was the debut of the NFL Networks new channel the NFL Redzone. This channel has single handily changed the way I watch football on Sunday. Instead of only seeing 3 or 4 games on Sunday afternoon, I saw EVERY score Sunday, every touchdown, every field goal, and every safety. It was truly unbelievable. Things I would have only seen on some highlight reel, I got to see live. Thank you NFL Network. There were several good games. Every game really had it’s moments. From last second touchdowns, to records being tied or broken, to just awesome stats like 185 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns or 6 touchdown passes, it was  a great day of football.

I’m not one of these people that will only talk about the games he got right. I took a few hits this week. I’m going to chalk it up to it being early in the season. This week will be better though, I’m sure. I hit the Auburn spread and picked the winners in the USC and Georgia Tech games. I missed the spread in the rest of the college games though. The NFL was a little better to me. The Saints covered the spread but went over the 49. I picked the Vikings to cover the spread in Favre’s debut, and they did. NOBODY saw the Bills being competitive so …. back off. Honestly, if I had knew that, I wouldn’t be sitting here right now. I’d be kicked back in my pj’s with my homie Hef. But what a finish. The look in Brady’s eyes with 90 seconds left, priceless. The Chargers also pulled one out in the final seconds to beat the Raiders. Neither the Patriots or the Chargers covered the spread though.

And finally, I guess Baby has to go back to sitting in the corner. Patrick Swayze died Monday at the age of 57. Corny movies or not, I really liked Swayze. Seems like every week we are losing someone else famous. I mean real famous people we knew, not the guy that invented the piece of plastic at the end of shoe strings. It’s been a tough year. Stay safe.
