Freakin’ Friday

5Freakin FridayIt’s Freakin’ Friday people! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!?!?! This week went by pretty fast. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I’ve been really busy this week. I’m not sure next week is gonna be any better, but next week will happen next week. For now, I’m taking a 3 day weekend. So I’m sitting at home on my big fat arce, starring at my beautiful wife, thinking how lucky she is I am to have found such a wonderful spouse.  I think The Cure said it best.

I don’t care if Monday’s blue
Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don’t care about you
It’s Friday, I’m in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Oh, Thursday doesn’t even start
It’s Friday I’m in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate…

I don’t care if Mondays black
Tuesday, Wednesday – heart attack
Thursday, never looking back
It’s Friday, I’m in love

Monday, you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday – watch the walls instead
It’s Friday, I’m in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate…

Dressed up to the eyes
It’s a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a sheik
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It’s such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It’s Friday, I’m in love

I don’t care if Monday’s blue
Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don’t care about you
It’s Friday, I’m in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn’t even start
It’s Friday I’m in love

Have a great weekend everybody. Don’t forget to remind that special someone how lucky they are much you love them.

Freakin’ Friday

5Freakin FridayHey guys. It’s Freakin’ Friday! I hope you have had a good week, mine hasn’t been too bad. This week I got to attend a training class that I have really been looking forward to. The class is called Kinesic Interview Techniques. It’s a class that teaches how to spot deception during an interview and interrogation. This class was awesome. Have you seen the Fox show Lie to Me? Ever thought, “that’s bull@$#”? Well, guess what? It’s not. It’s based off of studies and work of Dr. Paul Ekman. Why did I tell you that? Because the guy that taught my class, Stan Walters, studied with Dr. Ekman. We learned a lot of the verbal and nonverbal clues, and the difference between deception and stress markers. Part of the class was watching interviews of famous people in an attempt to spot deception. Some the interviews we saw were with O.J. Simpson, Alex Rodriguez, Courtney Love, John and Patsy Ramsey, and Bill Clinton to name a few. After learning what to look for, it was amazing seeing the interviews. This really was one of the most fun classes I have ever attended. The class is broke up into four phases and this was just the first phase. I can’t wait for next phase. And man are my kids in trouble. Let them little brats lie to me now.  It always amazed me how something could get broken, yet no one knew how. It just “happened“. Some people say they have gremlins that live in their house and break stuff, steal socks, and eat cookies without permission in their children’s bedrooms. Well, not me. I have an apparent illegal Russian immigrant. Maybe you’ve heard of him, I think his name is Idunno Itvotunmi. I was getting tired of looking everywhere in my house for this little  commie funny hat wearing vodka guzzling thug punk anyway. I guess now I will have to stop water boarding my kids. Oh well, life is full of compromises.

Well, that was pretty much my week. Hope yours  was a good one too. And by the way, check out one of my new blog buddies Gimme the Juice. Have a great weekend!

Freakin’ Friday

5Freakin FridayTGIF everyone. I am enjoying a self described, well deserved Friday off. I was watching the new episode of the new NBC show Community last night with Joel McHale and Chevy Chase and it got me thinking. What is my favorite Chevy Chase line of all time? Now there are so many good ones. But one has always stood out as my favorite. And the winner is ….. from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

“I’d like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane, with all the other rich people, and I want him brought right here with a big ribbon on his head. And, I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no good, rotten, floor-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed, sack of monkey sh** he is! Hallelujah! Holly Sh**! Where’s the Tylenol?”

5Freakin FridayOn your mark ………… get set ……….. IT’S FREAKIN’ FRIDAY!!! TGIF er’body! We made it through another one. Well … most of us anyway. Is it just me, or has this year been really tough. We’ve lost so many famous people this year. This week we lost a couple great ones.  Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Ask a woman or a gay guy about Patrick Swayze, and they will tell you how much they love Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Ask a guy or a SNL super fan, and they will tell you how great Red Dawn and the Chip n Dales skit with Chris Farley was. Swayze really was a good one. I hate to see him go. We also lost Mary Travers from Peter,Paul and Mary. “I’m Leavin’ on a Jet Plane” is one of those songs that gets stuck in my head on a constant basis. And “Puff the Magic Dragon” is a classic too. And finally, Daisy Simpson, Jessica Simpson’s wig with legs dog lost it’s battle with another disease that starts with a c …… a coyote.

The first string series are beginning to return. Time to say goodbye to all the summertime wannabes. It’s good to have them back. I’m looking forward to some new shows that I think will be good and of course my old favorites. This weeks episode of Glee was too funny. Grown men in a boy band singing Poison and dancing around was awesome. The season premiere of Parks and Recreation … 2 male penguins humping … ‘nuf said. Amy Poehler (Poehler, I don’t even know her) is a genius. She is the Lucille Ball of our generation. The Office is also one of my favorites. Great cast. I really don’t think there is a weak link in that chain. And finally for today, the new series Community. The Soup’s Joel McHale is a very funny comedian and Chevy Chase is a comedy legend, so how could this one go wrong. I liked it.

Well that’s just a quick look back at this week. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Freakin’ Friday

5Freakin FridayCan I get a WOOT WOOT! It’s time to let your freak flag fly. It’s FREAKIN’ FRIDAY!

It’s been a pretty good week. I’m sure part of that has nothing to do with the fact that it was a 4 day work week. Nah. Tuesday was fairly uneventful. I went for a short ride on my motorcycle after I got home from work. It was the first time I rode since I had the dizzy spells. It felt really good to get back on it.

Wednesday night was the season premiere of Fox’s new show Glee. I have to admit I wasn’t sure about this one. I had not seen any of the pilot episodes, but had heard alot about it. I knew it was about a glee club. It just didn’t sound like something I’d watch. But…..that crap was funny. If you didn’t see it, sorry. If you did, the song at the assembly was classic. I laughed my butt off. Totally not what I expected. It earned a spot on my DVR … for now. Also, Wednesday night the New Yankee’s Derek Jeter tied Lou Gehrig’s hit record at 2,721. The record has stood for over 72 years. Friday night the Baltimore Orioles will have a front row seat to history as they enter Yankee Stadium and see #2 forever take his place alongside Lou and the Babe.

Thursday was busy. We had a station tour of 5 year olds that morning. Then Thursday night it was our first away game. Our Wildcats played the Maddox Panthers. It didn’t quite turn out the way we would have hoped. The Maddox Panthers were bigger, faster, and stronger. They beat us 28-0. Thursday also was the kickoff of the NFL season. The Tennessee Titans traveled to Pittsburgh to play the defending Super Bowl Champion Steelers. The Steelers needed overtime to finally win this snooze-fest defensive struggle, 13-10.

I have been looking forward to today. Not just because it’s Friday either. I’m in a defensive driving class for our city. I get to drive the “skid car”. I’ll be posting some pics or video soon from the class. What could not be fun about driving a car they don’t car about. Not worrying about damaging it. Driving as fast as you can. Spinning out and doing doughnuts in an open parking lot full small orange cones. And the best part …… I get paid to do it. Some days it’s just good to be me.

On a serious note, today is the 8th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Take just a moment today to reflect on what is most important. Never take for granted your family. Never take for granted your friends.  Never take for granted your freedom. Never forget those who no longer have a chance to take those things for granted. May God bless you, your family, and our great country. We need it now more than ever.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Freakin’ Friday

5Freakin FridayThank God’s it’s Friday. Seriously. This Freakin’ Friday couldn’t get here quick enough. This has been a long week, but luckily it’s gonna be a long holiday weekend.

I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew this week. I’ve been having a great time blogging. So, I thought I’m gonna take this thing to aho ….. nuva ….. leva. I got my own domain, thatmakessensetome.com, and decided to go with wordpress. That’s apparently were I screwed up. I thought, “I’m owning this blogger-thing”. I’ve been reading how great and professional wordpress makes your blog look. So I jumped right in. I found several themes I really liked and downloaded them. That’s when I started looking for Ashton Kutcher. I knew I was getting punk’d. Because ALL the forums and “expert” sites said wordpress was the way to go and soooo EASY to customize. Yeah, right. And monkeys might fly out of my butt. I consider myself a fairly smart guy, but I can’t figure it out. Now some of the themes have a couple easily customizable features, but the rest of the theme, like the TITLE ……. not so easy. I’ve told myself I’ll have it up and running by Tuesday, but I’m doubting myself. If any of you know how to do this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

We did go and watch Brady’s second game of the season Thursday night. If both teams have enough players from both grades, they divide up and play by grades. It didn’t matter though. Almost the exact same results as Monday, the Wildcats won 18-0. Brady recovered a fumble inside the 20. Great job, we’re proud of you. Wildcats start the season 2-0. Not too bad.

Last night also kicked off the 2009/2010 NCAA Football season. FINALLY! This year’s kickoff was pushed back a couple of weeks compared to recent years. Not sure why, but let’s just hope they don’t make a habit out of it. I really think I have looked forward to this season more than any other before, but don’t ask why. I don’t know why. Regardless, it’s gonna be a great season.

Well that’s about it folks. Not a very eventful week. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Enjoy your holiday weekend and stay safe.

Freakin’ Friday

It’s Freakin‘ Friday ‘er body! So throw your hands in the air, and wave ‘em like …. sorry. I got carried away. Man, I’m glad this week is over.

Let me go ahead and say how happy I am that we are one week closer to the start of the new season of TV shows. I’m looking forward to some of my old favorites like House, Bones, Fringe, and Criminal Minds, but I’m really looking forward to some of the new ones too like Community, Parenthood, Labor Pains and the Cleveland Show. We are also down to 6 days until the college football season kicks off and 8 days ’til my Florida Gators take the field. FINALLY!
Well this week has almost been a re-run of last week. I think all my computer issues are finally behind me. I have spent the entire week reloading programs and attempting to salvage most of my documents and files. I also decided to load XP Pro instead of the Vista that came with my laptop. So far so good. It did make it a little faster, but I’m missing a couple pre-loaded programs. Thank God, I did not lose ANY of my investigation documents, reports, or photos. I hope this never happens again, but just in case, I’m quadruple backing up. I will now have a hard copy, a CD, an external hard drive, and the memory on my laptop. Let’s hope this works. I still have a few CD’s to burn and folders to make but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Lets just hope it’s not a train.
My lovely wife is still having the pain in her side (not me, I’m the pain in her butt). The results of the hida scan came back and now the doctor is not sure it’s her gall bladder. So now we are going to have more test done Monday. Yah! {Sidebar – 9 out of 10 doctors agree that 1 out of 10 doctors is an IDIOT. Let’s hope we don’t have “the one”.}
Well, that has been my week. It might not have been Nobel Prize worthy, but it was my life. Have a great weekend everybody.

Freakin’ Friday

Did someone say my favorite “F” word…Friday? Yes they did! IT’S FREAKIN‘ FRIDAY er’body! And what a week this has been. Let’s take just a moment to recap.

First, my computer gets a virus. I show up to work, turn on my computer and……..NOTHING. Just a little box that tells me in “geek-speak”, you’re screwed. I don’t know about everyone else, but basically everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, I do is somehow affected by my ability, or in this case inability, to log into my computer and connect to the internet. Needless to say, these events stressed me out and triggered my first headache of the week. After about 8 hours of researching, uploading new virus programs, crossing fingers and Hail Marys, my laptop was resurrected.
Then I got news from my doctor and apparently he had used up all his “lifelines” and is going to have to drop back and punt. He has no clue why I am having the reoccurring headaches. I am being referred to a neurologist. So….to be continued…..
Late Wednesday afternoon, my lovely wife had to go to her doctor about some abdominal pain she’s been having. So after a CT scan and some blood work, they scheduled her for an endoscopy on Thursday morning. {Sidebar – Doctors co-pay $35; Prescription medicines $30; Abdominal CT scan $700; Verification from a Board Certified Medical Doctor that your wife is “full of $#!^…… priceless; I love you baby} So the endoscopy went fine. Her doctor decided he needed to see a hida scan before he could make his final diagnosis. But I guess we will not know until next week, because the “tool” didn’t know the scan could not be done the morning after the endoscopy because of the sedation. You would think a doctor would know some of these things. He thinks it is her gallbladder, but could still possibly be Crohns disease, so keep her in your prayers.
Thursday night my son Brady’s first junior high football game was rained out. Maybe it was for the best though. I’m not sure when it will be rescheduled.
The Eagles/Colts game was a bit of a let down Thursday night. All the hype over Michael Vick, and he still has not played a down. On a positive note, Peyton Manning and the 1st team offense looked pretty good for the Colts. Either that or the Eagle’s defense is in trouble this year. The Bengals beat the Patriots also Thursday. Now just the fact that the Bengals won could be explained away by the fact that it is still the preseason, but the overshadowing highlight is the fact that the game was won by an extra point. No big deal you say? What if I told you Shayne Graham, the Bengals kicker is hurt, didn’t play, and the team does not have a back up. Who kicked it you ask? Wait for it….this is awesome……Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. I didn’t believe it at first either.
Well, that has been my week. I never claimed it was New York best seller, Pulitzer Prize winning material. It’s just a week in my life. Did I mention IT’S FREAKIN‘ FRIDAY! Have a great weekend everybody!
